189 Days in May - The Story

At 8.30 Friday the 13th November 2009 my very good friend Chris Martin and I rowed our purpose built boat; ‘Bojangles,’ directly beneath the central span of the Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco.

189 days 10 hours and 55 minutes earlier; not that we were counting, we’d set off from Choshi a fishing port on the east Coast of Japan with exactly that stated intention.

After a voyage of over six months and almost seven thousand miles across the most hostile part of the greatest ocean in the world we finished precisely where we said we would, the first and only people ever to do that.

‘189 Days In May’ is a three minute film produced to give a glimpse of just what that incredible voyage was like for the two individuals who became the team that made it happen. I hope you enjoy it and I look forward to bringing you the full length documentary of this epic and unique accomplishment very soon.
